wikipedia
The Church of the Immaculate Conception of the Blessed Virgin Mary in Szreńsk is a Roman Catholic parish church belonging to the Mława deanery of the Płock diocese. It was built around 1530 as a private foundation by Feliks Srzeński. Architecturally, it stands out as a brick structure laid in Polish bond, featuring a four-bay nave covered with a mirror vault and a smaller, two-bay chancel topped with a star vault. Additionally, a sacristy with a sacramentarium adjoins the chancel from the north, while on the southern side of the nave, there is a Chapel of St. Anne, crowned with a crystal vault. The interior of the church is rich in furnishings, including Rococo organ cases and numerous tombs and sculptures. Among the most valuable artifacts are a Renaissance tomb slab depicting the Risen Christ, the tomb of Feliks Srzeński, and Baroque and Gothic sculptures, such as a Pietà. Furthermore, the church boasts many paintings, including depictions of St. Barbara, the Our Lady of Częstochowa, and St. Roch. An interesting element of the furnishings is a Roman Catholic liturgical set, featuring a Gothic- and Baroque-style chalice and monstrance. The church is not only a place of worship but also a bearer of local history and culture, built during the Renaissance period, and it plays an important role in the traditions of the local community. It is a historic temple, bearing traces of bygone centuries and holding significance for the study of sacral architecture in Poland.
