wikipedia
The Henryk Sienkiewicz Museum in Wola Okrzejska is an institution dedicated to the outstanding Polish writer, located at his birthplace. Housed in the former manor of Sienkiewicz's grandmother, Felicjanna Cieciszewska, the museum was opened in 1966 after a thorough renovation of the building. Initially, it operated as a branch of the Regional Museum in Łuków, with its first director, Antoni Cybulski, leading it until 2013. In the 1970s, the museum underwent another renovation, and since 1975, it has functioned as an independent institution under the structures of the Krzywda municipality. In 2000, an event occurred that significantly impacted the institution—a fire caused by an electrical failure. The museum houses a rich collection of memorabilia related to Sienkiewicz's life and work, including photographs, paintings, sculptures, and first editions of his works. Its collections also feature artistic works illustrating characters from his novels, as well as exhibits related to their film adaptations. A particularly interesting part of the exhibition is the "Salonik" (Small Salon), inspired by the writer's childhood. The museum hosts various cultural events, including sessions and competitions commemorating the author, as well as gatherings of schools named after him. The facility is open year-round, except on Mondays, and offers visitors the opportunity to explore the history and works of Sienkiewicz in a charming setting. The aesthetic appeal of the museum's interiors and its surroundings also attracts literature and culture enthusiasts.
