Town Hall – Poznań Museum

The Town Hall – Museum of Poznań, a branch of the National Museum in Poznań, is located in the historic town hall on the Old Market Square. Registered in the State Museum Registry, the museum showcases the city's rich history, spanning from the 13th century to 1945. Exhibitions are held in the representative halls on the first floor, including the Renaissance Hall with its distinctive 16th-century vaulted ceiling. Spaces on the second floor have also been adapted for use, while the Gothic cellars, which previously hosted exhibitions, are currently undergoing renovation. It is worth noting that until 2022, the institution operated under the name Museum of the History of the City of Poznań. Architecturally, the town hall is an exceptional example of Renaissance architecture, blending stylistic elements from various eras, making it one of the most significant landmarks in Poznań. Culturally, the town hall and museum serve as a venue for meetings, events, and education, enriching the city's cultural life. Interestingly, the renovation of the town hall and its adaptation for museum purposes was a complex process, reflecting both a commitment to preserving cultural heritage and a desire to adapt it to modern needs.
