wikipedia
Tuczno, located in northwestern Poland, is a town with a rich history dating back to at least the 14th century. Once a defensive stronghold, Tuczno was mentioned multiple times in historical documents, for example in 1306 as "Tuctz." It quickly changed hands among various rulers, including Brandenburg, and obtained town rights during the Middle Ages. The town boasts preserved historical monuments, such as the 14th-century Wedel Castle and the 15th-century Gothic Church of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary, distinguished by its Baroque furnishings and polychrome paintings. Tuczno also features architectural curiosities like an 18th-century house known as "Kuria" and the Chapel of St. George. The town witnessed turbulent historical events and was privately owned by the influential Wedel family in the 16th century. It was also a witness to numerous conflicts, including wars with the Teutonic Order. After World War II, the town was rebuilt but lost much of its original architectural character. Today, Tuczno is seeking recognition as a health resort municipality, offering tourists hotels, holiday centers, and natural attractions such as nature reserves and protected landscape areas. The town has a vibrant cultural life, hosting events like the MISIETUPODOBA Audiovisual Art Festival and various activities for both children and adults. Tuczno is also a transportation hub and maintains a growing partnership with the German municipality of Märkische Heide in cultural, educational, and tourism initiatives.
