Tykocin

Tykocin is an urban-rural municipality located in the Podlaskie Voivodeship, within the Białystok County, with the town of Tykocin serving as its administrative seat. Historically, between 1975 and 1998, the municipality was part of the Białystok Voivodeship. As of the end of 2020, its population was 6,094 residents. The municipality covers an area of 207.34 km², of which 63% is agricultural land and 27% is covered by forests, making it an area of diverse natural landscapes. Tykocin constitutes 6.95% of the total area of Białystok County. The municipality includes numerous villages such as Broniszewo, Jeżewo, Sanniki, and Kapice. It borders the municipalities of Choroszcz, Dobrzyniewo Duże, Kobylin-Borzymy, Zawady, Krypno, and Trzcianne, which fosters cooperation and cultural exchange with neighboring regions.
