Uniejów is a picturesque town located on the Warta River in the Łódź Voivodeship, with a rich history dating back to the 11th century. As a clerical settlement of the Archdiocese of Gniezno, Uniejów obtained town rights around 1285. In the 16th century, the town was well-developed, with numerous craft guilds, but it was repeatedly destroyed by invaders, including the Teutonic Knights and Swedes. The town has held the status of a health resort since 2012, thanks to its warm mineral waters rich in therapeutic properties, which attract tourists to Termy Uniejów. Among its architectural monuments are the Gothic Collegiate Church of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary, a neo-Baroque church tower, and a 14th-century castle that played an important role in the town's history. The cultural center of events includes organized knight tournaments and medieval fairs, highlighting Uniejów's historical character. The town also retains elements of 19th-century architecture, and numerous renovations and revitalization efforts reflect a commitment to preserving its cultural heritage. In Uniejów, one can also come across bunkers from World War II. The town is a partner to many foreign localities, demonstrating its openness to international cooperation. Demographically, Uniejów has around 3,000 inhabitants, making it a small but dynamically developing community with a rich history and cultural traditions.
