The University of Siedlce, previously known as the University of Natural Sciences and Humanities, the Podlasie Academy, and the Higher School of Agriculture and Pedagogy, has a rich history dating back to 1969, when it began providing pedagogical education in the South Podlasie region. Headquartered in Siedlce, the university is located in a city that has become an educational hub in this part of Poland over the decades. It comprises five faculties: Humanities, Medical and Health Sciences, Agricultural Sciences, Social Sciences, and Exact and Natural Sciences, offering a total of 41 fields of study. Architecturally, the university has evolved over the years, as exemplified by the modern Main Library building opened in 2004, which houses over 350,000 volumes. Culturally, the university actively engages with the local community by organizing events such as Juwenalia (Jackonalia) and supporting student activities through research clubs and student organizations. An interesting fact is that the university was one of the first in Poland to introduce integrated studies for people with disabilities, significantly improving accessibility to higher education. The institution has also achieved academic recognition, including the right to award doctoral degrees in several disciplines. Over the years, the University of Siedlce has undergone numerous transformations, adapting to the changing needs of society and the academic world, solidifying its role as a key educational center in the region.
