The Lubin Commune, located in the Lower Silesian Voivodeship within the Lubin County, covers an area of 290.15 km², of which 51% is agricultural land and 37% is forested. The mayor of the commune is Tadeusz Kielan, and it has a population of 16,328 (as of June 2020). The commune's history dates back to 1973 when it was first established, comprising 28 villages, including Buczynka, Chróstnik, and Szklary Górne. The commune boasts a rich educational tradition, with numerous kindergartens and primary schools, including a Special Educational and Rehabilitation Center. Public transportation in the commune's localities has evolved over the years, transitioning from rail to road transport, with changes in operators and service systems over time. Since 2011, the commune has supported bus transport, and since 2016, the county has taken over the organization of public transportation. An interesting fact is that despite the discontinuation of passenger services, Railway Line No. 289 remains part of the region's transportation history. The Lubin Commune borders other communes, such as Chocianów and Polkowice, contributing to the complex social and cultural landscape of the region.
