wikipedia
Lubin County, established in 1999 as part of Poland's administrative reform, is located in the Lower Silesian Voivodeship, with the city of Lubin serving as its capital. It borders the counties of Wołów, Góra, Głogów, Polkowice, and Legnica. The county consists of the urban municipality of Lubin, the urban-rural municipality of Ścinawa, and the rural municipalities of Lubin and Rudna. In 2019, the population was 106,150. The region is dominated by mining, particularly due to the presence of KGHM Polska Miedź, which contributes to the highest average salary in Poland. Lubin County boasts a well-developed transport network, including Lubin Airport and railway lines connecting it to major cities such as Wrocław and Szczecin. Public transport, managed by Lubińskie Przewozy Pasażerskie, is operated by the privatized company PKS Lubin. A notable regional phenomenon is the high number of registered vehicles, reaching approximately 80,000. The county authorities, headed by the starost, strive to improve the quality of life for residents and develop infrastructure. The region's history dates back to before 1999 when its municipalities were part of the Legnica Voivodeship. Lubin's architecture features modern elements that harmonize with its industrial heritage. Interestingly, since 2016, the county has taken over the organization of public transport, becoming a regional leader in resident mobility.
