wikipedia
The Upper Narew Valley, a physiographic mesoregion in northeastern Poland, is an area with a unique landscape that stretches along the valley of the upper course of the Narew River from the Belarusian border to the Biebrza Basin. The region benefits from ice-marginal valleys (pradolinas) that separate the Białystok Upland from the Bielsk Plain. A characteristic feature of the Valley is the numerous meanders of the Narew, which are particularly prominent in the lower course of the river. Due to its swampy bottom and varied terrain, the Upper Narew Valley does not contain any large cities, with Suraż being the only urban center. In the 1980s, the Narew Landscape Park was established, which was transformed into the Narew National Park in 1996. The park protects valuable ecosystems and the region's biodiversity. In terms of architecture, the Valley does not abound in a large number of monuments, but nearby towns boast traditional wooden houses and religious buildings that reflect regional construction traditions. Culturally, the region is associated with local folklore and traditions, which is reflected in organized festivals and cultural events related to nature. Historically, these areas have witnessed many events that have shaped their cultural identity. An interesting fact is the richness of the park's fauna and flora, including rare bird species, making the area attractive for ornithologists and nature lovers. The Upper Narew Valley is a place that combines natural beauty and cultural richness, offering unforgettable experiences for visitors.
