Sokoły Commune, located in the Podlaskie Voivodeship within Wysokie Mazowieckie County, is an area with a rich history and diverse demographic structure. Historically known as Truskolasy until 1870, it was part of the Łomża Voivodeship from 1975 to 1998. The administrative seat of the commune is the village of Sokoły. Covering an area of 155.57 km², the commune consists of 71% agricultural land and 19% forested areas. It has experienced a decline in population, with 5,819 residents recorded in 2010 and 5,743 in 2019. Sokoły benefits from well-developed transport infrastructure, including two provincial roads and an important railway line connecting Warsaw and Białystok. The commune is also home to several railway stations, such as the one in Nowe Racibory. It comprises several village administrations (sołectwa), including Bruszewo, Bujny, and Kruszewo-Brodowo, reflecting the diversity of its local communities. The cultural landscape of Sokoły is shaped by agricultural traditions, local events, and customs. Thanks to its proximity to roads and railway connections, residents have easy access to larger urban centers, facilitating integration with broader cultural contexts.
