wikipedia
Szklary Górne is a village with an irregular layout and compact structure, located in southwestern Poland, in the Lubin County. Its architecture consists of farm and residential buildings, with several roads running through the area. The surroundings are dominated by agricultural land, small forests, and green areas, giving the village a rural character. Among the most important historical monuments are the Church of St. Peter and Paul, built in the early 16th century, and a 17th-century palace and park complex, which testifies to the village's former significance. Over the centuries, the village had various owners, and in the 16th century, it was in the hands of the Glaubitz family. An interesting fact is that during World War II, Szklary Górne housed a prisoner-of-war subcamp where Poles, French, and Italians were held. After the war, the area underwent many changes, and in the 1960s and 1970s, a correctional facility operated here. Today, the village is home to a curatorial Special Educational and Care Center for children with mild intellectual disabilities. Szklary Górne boasts a rich history, dating back to human settlements from the Bronze Age, through Roman and Celtic cultural influences, to military significance in the 14th century when a castle stood here. Currently, the village is well-connected to Lubin, which supports its development and helps preserve local identity.
