Warsaw School of Economics

Szkoła Główna Handlowa w Warszawie (SGH), established in 1906, is the oldest university of economics in Poland. Its history dates back to the pre-World War I era, and the institution has undergone numerous changes in name and structure, including gaining academic status in 1924. Today, SGH boasts a modern campus, with its main building located at 162 Niepodległości Avenue. The university's architecture, designed in the Art Deco style with moderate modernist influences, forms a distinctive part of Warsaw's cityscape. SGH places strong emphasis on international cooperation, partnering with over 200 institutions worldwide, which enhances the quality of its education. The university awards approximately 2,500 diplomas annually and educates more than 15,000 students. Among its numerous student organizations, SGH hosts a variety of cultural and academic events and promotes sports through its physical education center. Notably, SGH was one of the first universities in Poland to introduce segregated seating (getto ławkowe) in the 1930s. Today, its CEMS Master in International Management program consistently ranks among the world's best. As a symbol of Polish economics and education, SGH continues to train specialists, and its library is the largest in the country in the field of socio-economic studies. The university remains a key institution on Poland's educational map, with its long-standing traditions serving as the foundation for a modern approach to learning and research.
