Wieleń is an urban-rural municipality in the Greater Poland Voivodeship, within the Czarnków-Trzcianka County, with its administrative seat located in Wieleń. Between 1975 and 1998, the municipality belonged to the Piła Voivodeship. It encompasses a variety of settlements, including villages, forest hamlets, and forestry lodges. In 2022, it was home to 11,798 residents. The municipality covers an area of 428.32 km², dominated by forest land, which constitutes 65% of the area, and agricultural land, accounting for 27%. The history of the municipality includes administrative changes, such as the incorporation of Mikołajewo, which was finalized in 1992.
