wikipedia
Wojnowice is a village in the Greater Poland Voivodeship, within the Nowy Tomyśl County, known as the largest village in the Opalenica municipality. The history of the settlement dates back to 1352, and its development was associated with numerous noble families, such as the Ostroróg, Opaliński, Raczyński, and Potocki families. In 1580, the village comprised 11 łans (a historical unit of land measurement) and served as a noble estate. The architecture of Wojnowice included a manor house, whose origins trace back to the mid-17th century, with preserved documents indicating its development and renovations over the centuries. In the 18th century, the manor was the residence of Michał Kazimierz Raczyński and later also of Wiktor Raczyński. During the interwar period, the 1st Greater Poland Squadron was stationed in Wojnowice, highlighting its military significance. The village was also a venue for numerous cultural events, associated with prominent figures who visited, such as August Cieszkowski and Władysław Niegolewski. An interesting fact is that Wojnowice is home to a small-leaved lime tree with a circumference of 430 cm, recognized as a natural monument. Additionally, 19th-century farm buildings have been preserved, along with detailed inventories of the estate, which attest to the rich history of the locality. After World War II, Wojnowice functioned as the seat of a State Agricultural Farm (PGR), and its agricultural heritage continues to this day through local production cooperatives.
