wikipedia
The Zakopane Deanery, one of the 45 Roman Catholic deaneries of the Archdiocese of Krakow, is located in the picturesque Tatra Mountains region. It comprises 10 parishes, including well-known locations such as Kościelisko, Zakopane-Antałówka, and Zakopane-Olcza. The architecture of the religious buildings in this area, often inspired by the local highland style, combines regional construction traditions with the Catholic spirit. Many churches are built of wood, which is characteristic of the Podhale culture, and some of them are listed as historical monuments. Historically, this region has witnessed many significant events, both in Polish history and in the history of the Church. The Parish of St. Casimir in Kościelisko and the parishes in Zakopane, in particular, have played an important role in the spiritual life of local communities. Zakopane, known as the winter capital of Poland, has become not only a tourist hub but also a meeting place for artists and intellectuals, which has influenced the cultural life of the region. Interestingly, several churches in Zakopane feature stained glass windows created by renowned artists, adding to their unique character. The deanery also hosts numerous religious events that bring together the local community and tourists, attracting them to the rich Catholic tradition and highland culture.
