wikipedia
The Łęczna Lakeland Landscape Park, located in the Lublin Voivodeship, covers an area of 11,816 hectares and is part of the picturesque Łęczna-Włodawa Lakeland and the Parczew Plain. The park consists of two parts connected by a common buffer zone covering 14,095 hectares. The terrain is mostly flat, with greater variation in the southern part, where eskers and dunes can be found. The park is dominated by numerous lakes and ponds, including 20 lakes with varying levels of eutrophication, as well as peat bogs and wetlands. The waters of Lake Brzeziczno form one of the nature reserves, with six more reserves planned. The park's natural value is significant—it is home to precious plant species such as the waterwheel plant, bog cranberry, and carnivorous plants, including sundews. Forests cover 32% of the park's area, preserving fragments of old-growth stands. The park's fauna includes diverse species, such as fish, amphibians, reptiles, and rare birds of prey like the white-tailed eagle and the lesser spotted eagle. Additionally, the park is home to mammals such as the beaver, otter, and gray wolf. From a cultural perspective, the park features significant monuments, including a 19th-century brick Orthodox church in Dratów and an 18th-century late Baroque church in Ostrów Lubelski. The manor and park complex in Kaniwola also testifies to the region's rich history. With its unique nature and cultural heritage, the park is a valuable area for conservation and research, while also attracting tourists interested in nature, history, and architecture.
