wikipedia
Angels (Aniołki) is a district of Gdańsk, located north of the city center, characterized by architectural and functional diversity. The northern part of the district features villas, while the southern part is dominated by block housing. The boundaries of Angels are marked by Aleja Zwycięstwa, railway stations, and nearby streets, and its history dates back to historical times when the area was part of Zigankenberg. The name of the district likely originates from the Church of St. Michael and All Angels of God, and German names such as Aller Gottes Engel confirm this origin. The district is home to many significant sites, including the Opera Office building, the Lux Med Medical Center, as well as historical locations such as Steffens Park and the T-34 Tank Monument, which was unveiled in 1946. Angels also hosts the Medical University of Gdańsk and Primary School No. 15. A key element of the district's infrastructure is its well-developed transportation network, including tram, bus, and urban rail services (SKM), as well as a section of the paid parking zone. Within Angels, there are 17 natural monuments, including various species of trees, primarily found in Steffens Park. The District Council is actively involved in the area, and Monika Mazurowska serves as its chair for the 2019–2024 term. Angels is a place rich in history, culture, and architectural attractions, drawing both residents and tourists.
