Pszczew is a rural commune in the Lubusz Voivodeship, located in the Międzyrzecz County, with its administrative seat in the village of the same name. From 1975 to 1998, the commune was part of the Gorzów Voivodeship. As of June 30, 2004, it had a population of 4,173. The commune covers an area of 177.64 km², dominated by forest land (49%) and agricultural land (40%), and constitutes 12.8% of the total area of the county. Pszczew is home to the Jeziora Gołyńskie Nature Reserve, which protects a fragment of wetland forest and rare peatland plants such as alpine cottongrass. The commune includes several village administrations (sołectwa), such as Borowy Młyn, Janowo, Nowe Gorzycko, and Pszczew, as well as additional localities like Biercza and Brzeźno. It borders the communes of Miedzichowo, Międzychód, Międzyrzecz, Przytoczna, and Trzciel.
