Pszczew Landscape Park

Pszczewski Landscape Park, established in 1986 in the Lubuskie Voivodeship, encompasses a diverse landscape, including numerous lakes in the Obra River valley, such as Lubikowskie and Wielkie. The park's terrain, dominated by young forests, features varied landforms, including post-glacial lakes, river valleys, moraines, and outwash plains. The park's ecosystem is home to many species of waterbirds, such as the mute swan and black stork, as well as numerous fish and amphibians. The park also boasts significant cultural value, with landmarks like the 17th-century late Renaissance church in Pszczew, a Baroque rectory, a palace with a park, and the Regional Museum "Dom Szewca" (Shoemaker's House). Notable is the former Cistercian Abbey in Rokitno, associated with the Sanctuary of Our Lady of Rokitno, highlighting the region's rich history. Pszczewski Landscape Park is also a focus of environmental conservation efforts, with initiatives aimed at preserving its natural and scenic values. Among the threats to the park are lake eutrophication, resulting from pollution in the Obra River, and the development of tourist infrastructure. Interestingly, the park includes nature reserves, such as "Jezioro Wielkie" and "Dąbrowa na wyspie" (Oak Forest on the Island), which protect unique habitats and species of fauna and flora. Conservation initiatives in Pszczewski Landscape Park aim to preserve this natural wealth and provide environmental education for future generations.
