wikipedia
The Church of St. Demetrius in Szczutków is a historic Greek Catholic wooden church from 1904, which served as a Roman Catholic filial church after 1947. Its history dates back to the 16th century when the first church was built in this village. The current church was constructed on the site of two previous temples, on the initiative of parish priest Antoni Jocew. The consecration took place in 1905, and the church underwent repairs after damage in 1915 and in the 1990s. The church was entered on the list of monuments in 2008 and was also included in the Subcarpathian Wooden Architecture Trail. Architecturally, the church stands out with its monumental silhouette, made of log construction wood, on a plastered foundation, in a trefoil and tripartite layout. It features a slender octagonal dome and characteristic turrets, and its interior is decorated with polychrome in the form of a starry sky. Among the preserved furnishings, the altars and pulpit from various eras are notable. An interesting fact is the image of St. Lawrence, the patron saint of the church, which was brought here in 1951 from Ukraine. Next to the church stands a bell tower from 1825 and a cemetery with Bruśnie crosses, which completes the cultural and historical context of this place.
