Dębica Commune, located in the Podkarpackie Voivodeship and adjacent to the city of Dębica, is an area rich in history and notable for its demographic growth. Before 1945, the commune was part of the Kraków Voivodeship, and after World War II, it became part of the Rzeszów Voivodeship. From 1975 to 1998, it was incorporated into the Tarnów Voivodeship. The seat of the Commune Office is situated in the city of Dębica. The commune stands out for its significant population; in 2005, it was home to 24,282 people, and by the end of 2019, the number of inhabitants had increased to 25,849, making it one of the largest rural communes in Poland. The commune covers an area of 137.62 km², of which 60% is agricultural land and 29% is forested. Dębica Commune constitutes 17.73% of the area of Dębica County. The commune comprises several villages, such as Braciejowa, Głobikowa, and Pustków, each with its own traditions and history. It borders the communes of Brzostek, Czarna, Ostrów, Pilzno, Przecław, Ropczyce, and Żyraków, which fosters regional cooperation. Due to its location and history, Dębica Commune is a place where the influences of various cultures and communities can be observed. Although the commune is primarily agricultural, it also offers natural and landscape attractions that encourage tourism and recreation. An interesting fact is that the village of Pustków is known for its history related to World War II, particularly associated with a labor camp. With all its diversity, Dębica Commune is a significant location on the map of Podkarpacie, blending rich traditions with modern development.
