Fort W XIIIb "Bolestraszyce" is a single-rampart artillery fort that was part of the Przemyśl Fortress, located near the village of Bolestraszyce. Its construction began between 1854 and 1857 as an entrenchment for a fortified camp. The fort underwent significant reconstructions and modernizations, particularly in 1873–1880 and 1903–1910, when it was adapted to meet the requirements of close-range defense. Its architecture combines concrete, masonry, and earthen elements, which places it within the Austro-Hungarian fortification tradition. The fort played a crucial defensive role during World War I, and after the second siege of Przemyśl Fortress in 1915, it was partially demolished. The period from 1920 to 1930 saw further dismantling of the structure. Fort "Bolestraszyce" is an example of the region's military heritage, reflecting the evolution of defensive techniques and changing military needs in the 19th and 20th centuries. Today, the ruins of the fort attract history and architecture enthusiasts, offering fascinating insights into fortification techniques and the military history of the area.
