wikipedia
Górowo Iławeckie, known before 1945 as Landsberg, is a town in Bartoszyce County, within the Warmian-Masurian Voivodeship, located in the historical region of Lower Prussia. Its history dates back to the 13th century when these lands were inhabited by the Natangian tribe. The town received its city rights in 1335, which contributed to its commercial development due to its favorable location along trade routes. Architecturally, Górowo Iławeckie has preserved numerous historical monuments, including a 14th-century Gothic Town Hall, the neo-Gothic Church of the Sacred Heart of Jesus from 1895, and a 14th-century Greek Catholic church. The town also features modern infrastructure, including water supply systems, green spaces, and sports facilities. Economically, it serves as a local industrial and service center, with residents engaged in crafts and agriculture. The town is home to the Górowo Sports Club "Cresovia," and hosts various cultural events such as "Górowo Days." Additionally, the local community actively supports people with disabilities and maintains ties with national minorities, such as Germans and Ukrainians. The town's international cooperation with Verden (Aller) and Bagrationovsk has led to numerous cultural and economic initiatives. Interestingly, the town has faced numerous disasters, including fires and destruction during World War II, but today it is a dynamically developing center with a rich history and diverse regional culture.
