Jawor County, established in 1999 as part of the administrative reform, is located in the Lower Silesian Voivodeship, with the town of Jawor serving as its capital. The county comprises various municipalities, including urban municipalities (Jawor), urban-rural municipalities (Bolków), and rural municipalities (Męcinka, Mściwojów, Paszowice, Wądroże Wielkie). There are two towns within the county: Jawor and Bolków.
Demographically, according to data from the end of 2019, the county had a population of 50,116 people, which slightly decreased to 49,937 residents by 2020. In terms of the economy, as of November 2019, approximately 1,700 unemployed individuals were registered, indicating an unemployment rate of 10.6%.
Jawor County borders several other counties, including Złotoryja, Legnica, Środa Śląska, Świdnica, Wałbrzych, Kamienna Góra, and Karkonosze. The history of the county includes several starosts (administrative heads), with notable figures such as Jan Jarosiński (1998–2006), Stanisław Laskowski (2006–2018), Aneta Kucharzyk (2018–2024), and Michał Bander, who has held the position since May 2024.
