Krosno Odrzańskie is an urban-rural municipality located in the Lubusz Voivodeship, within the Krosno Odrzańskie County, with its seat in the town of Krosno Odrzańskie. The municipality, which has existed in its current form since 1999, has its historical roots in the former Zielona Góra Voivodeship from 1975 to 1998. According to data from 2004, the municipality was inhabited by 18,610 people. Geographically, the area is characterized by a rich geological structure, featuring Tertiary and Quaternary deposits. The landscape is dominated by the valleys of the Oder and Bóbr rivers, as well as subglacial troughs, and the municipality includes peat bogs covering approximately 700 hectares, primarily used as meadows and pastures. Additionally, the region is known for its mineral resources, including natural aggregates and deposits of oil and gas. The municipality covers an area of 211.52 km², of which 32% is agricultural land and 47% is covered by forests. The municipality comprises numerous villages, such as Bielów, Brzózka, Czetowice, Łochowice, Radnica, and Szklarka Radnicka, as well as settlements without village status, such as Morsko. It borders the municipalities of Bobrowice, Bytnica, Czerwieńsk, Dąbie, Gubin, and Maszewo. The region's culture is deeply intertwined with its history and local heritage, which can be explored through walks in the picturesque surroundings and interactions with the residents, who preserve traditions and customs, creating a rich social fabric. An interesting fact is that there are oil and gas deposits near Retno, which play a significant role in the local industry.
