Kudowa-Zdrój

Kudowa-Zdrój is a picturesque spa town located in the Lower Silesian Voivodeship, known for its rich history, healing mineral waters, and charming architecture. Dating back to the 14th century, the town was officially classified as a health resort in the 19th century, attracting numerous visitors, including notable figures such as Winston Churchill and Bruno Schulz. Kudowa is home to many historic sites, including the 17th-century Church of St. Catherine, the Chapel of Skulls in Czermna—one of only three such chapels in Europe—and the beautifully restored spa park with its mineral water pump room. Architecturally, the town also boasts the 1906 promenade hall located in the park and the "Bajka IV" guesthouse from 1894. The most notable tourist attraction remains the Chapel of Skulls, drawing visitors with its unique architecture and tragic history. After 1945, Kudowa-Zdrój underwent significant transformation, becoming a popular destination for Polish patients and tourists alike. Its history, combined with the beauty of the mountain landscape and rich cultural heritage, continues to attract visitors. Today, Kudowa-Zdrój offers modern spa facilities, well-developed tourist infrastructure, and a vibrant cultural life, making it an appealing destination not only for nature lovers but also for those interested in exploring the region’s deep historical and cultural roots.
