Lesko

Lesko, located in the Podkarpackie Voivodeship, is a town with a rich history and architecture. Here are some key facts. The town, founded in 1469 by Jan Kmita, has undergone many changes over the centuries. Its original name "Lisko" was changed to "Lesko" in 1931. Throughout its history, Lesko has been the seat of many prominent families, including the Kmita and Stadnicki families, who contributed to the region's development by building, among other structures, the castle, which became an important administrative center. The town gained significance at the turn of the 16th and 17th centuries as a hub of trade and craftsmanship, with well-developed infrastructure such as defensive walls and waterworks. In the 19th century, Lesko became a center of intellectual life for the aristocracy, while fires and epidemics influenced its development.
