The municipality of Lwówek Śląski, located in the Lower Silesian Voivodeship, covers an area of 240.37 km², which constitutes 33.86% of the Lwówek County. The municipality consists of an urban and a rural part, with its seat in Lwówek Śląski. Between 1975 and 1998, the municipality belonged to the Jelenia Góra Voivodeship. As of March 31, 2013, the population was 17,911, and according to data from June 30, 2020, this number decreased to 17,219 residents. The municipality borders six other municipalities, including Bolesławiec and Gryfów Śląski.
