wikipedia
Mielno is an urban-rural municipality in the West Pomeranian Voivodeship, located on the Baltic Sea in the picturesque region of the Słowińskie Coast. The seat of the municipality is the town of Mielno, and the municipality also includes the villages of Chłopy, Gąski, Mielenko, Sarbinowo, and settlements such as Komorniki, Niegoszcz, Paprotno, Pękalin, and Radzichowo. The municipality is an attractive tourist destination, with an area of 62.13 km², which constitutes 3.8% of the Koszalin County. Mielno is characterized by a rich history dating back to Slavic times, and within its territory, there are remnants of early medieval strongholds from the 9th–10th centuries. An interesting site is the 15th-century Gothic church, which may have served defensive functions and might have been built on a former pagan cult site. In Sarbinowo, there is a neo-Gothic church dedicated to the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary, built in 1656, distinguished by its tall tower. The municipality is also famous for the lighthouse in Gąski, the second tallest in Poland, which is open to visitors. Due to its location, Mielno attracts tourists, and most of its localities base their economy on tourism. It is also worth noting cultural elements such as the monument to pilots commemorating a tragic event in 1987 and the sculpture of a deer, which symbolizes Mielno. A historic 19th-century villa, once a summer residence for wealthy residents of Koszalin, also adds charm to this area. Mielno is not only a place of relaxation but also a region rich in history and culture, captivating visitors with its architectural treasures and natural beauty.
