Mieszkowice is an urban-rural municipality located in the western part of the West Pomeranian Voivodeship, within the Gryfino County, with its seat in the town of Mieszkowice. According to data at the end of 2016, the municipality had 7,313 inhabitants and covered 12.8% of the county's area. Until 1998, the municipality belonged to the Szczecin Voivodeship. Mieszkowice is neighbored by the municipalities of Cedynia, Chojna, Moryń, Trzcińsko-Zdrój, as well as Boleszkowice and Dębno, and it borders Germany in the area of the Märkisch-Oderland district. In 2005, the residents of the municipality were diverse in terms of age, and the unemployment rate was 15%. The municipality is home to valuable natural areas, including the Cedynia Landscape Park and the Warta Mouth Landscape Park. 45% of the municipality's area is covered by forests. The municipality is well-connected thanks to national and regional roads, as well as a railway line built in 1876. Mieszkowice features numerous historical monuments, such as the Church of the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary, an 18th-century palace that now serves as an elementary school, and a landscape park with preserved spatial layout. The municipality is also home to interesting villages and administrative units, such as Czelin, Goszków, Kłosów, Kurzycko, and Wierzchlas. Various cultural events take place in the Mieszkowice municipality, and its history dates back to medieval times, making it an interesting destination both culturally and touristically.
