The Mogilany Deanery is one of the 45 Roman Catholic deaneries of the Archdiocese of Kraków, established by decree of Cardinal Stanisław Dziwisz in 2014. It consists of nine parishes, representing the architectural and historical diversity of the region. The Parish of the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary in Gaj and the churches in Głogoczów, Krzyszkowice, and Libertów are distinguished by their unique architectural details. The Church of St. Bartholomew the Apostle in Mogilany exemplifies a classical style with Baroque elements, while the temple in Świątniki Górne stands out for its modern approach to form.
Culturally, the deanery is a hub for numerous liturgical traditions and local customs cherished by parishioners. Interestingly, some of these churches host festivals, concerts, and other cultural events that attract not only the faithful but also residents of nearby towns. The history of the Mogilany Deanery is closely intertwined with local legends and events that have shaped the area over the centuries. Churches like those in Rzeszotary and Siepraw bear witness to the region’s rich history, from medieval traditions to contemporary initiatives. For this reason, the deanery is not only an important point on the map of the Archdiocese of Kraków but also a significant place for the local community, which actively preserves its heritage.
