wikipedia
Momina is a village located in the Świętokrzyskie Voivodeship, in the Ostrowiec County, known for its rich history and numerous monuments. Before 1954, it was the seat of the Boksyce commune, and since the 1970s it has been administratively part of the Kielce Voivodeship. The village is home to a historic parish church dedicated to St. Adalbert, dating back to before 1326, and believed to have been built at the end of the 13th century. The church features a single-nave design and houses valuable elements such as altars with an image of the Sacred Heart of Jesus, an organ from 1880, and tombstones of local notables. Next to the church stands a gate with a fence from 1805. The village was once an important religious center from the 11th century, evidencing early settlement in the region, as confirmed by historical documents such as the Gniezno Bull of 1136. Momina was also under the administration of the Lubusz bishops from the 13th century. In the 19th century, it was divided into two parts: Momina Kościelna (Church Momina) and Momina Dworska (Manor Momina). Momina Kościelna included the church and a shelter for the elderly. Among historical figures, Wojciech Pytlak, a long-serving village leader who participated in the defensive war of 1939, is worth mentioning. Momina is also a tourist destination, featured on the Millennium Trails list of localities, highlighting its cultural significance. In 2010, the local school complex was named after Major Jan Piwnik "Ponury," reflecting the community's commitment to local traditions and values.
