wikipedia
Myczkowce is a village in Poland, located in the Podkarpackie Voivodeship, within the Lesko County. Its history dates back to 1376, when it was founded by the Sanok starost, Piotr. The village was part of the Sobień estate complex, and its ownership changed over the centuries, with the Kmita family being among the most prominent. The charm of Myczkowce includes a well-preserved 19th-century granary and a chapel from 1848. In 1885, the village had a wooden church and a brick Greek Catholic chapel, with the vast majority of its inhabitants adhering to the Greek Catholic faith. During World War II, Myczkowce was under Soviet occupation, and after the war, it experienced brutal attacks by the UPA, which had tragic consequences for the local community. In 1956, the Myczkowce Lake was created following the construction of a dam on the San River, contributing to the development of tourism. In 1994, the Caritas of the Rzeszów Diocese established a modern recreational and rehabilitation center, which houses a collection of models of churches and Orthodox churches. Traces of a settlement from the 10th–11th centuries have also been discovered in Myczkowce, confirming its rich cultural heritage. Today, the village offers attractions related to the beauty of nature and the rich history of the region.
