The municipality of Nekla, located in the Greater Poland Voivodeship within Września County, boasts a rich architectural and historical heritage. The seat of the municipality is the town of Nekla, which serves as an important local center. The municipality consists of 17 localities, including Nekla, Nekielka, and Targowa Górka. Over the years, the population of the municipality has grown from 6,598 in 2004 to 7,461 in 2017, accounting for 9.7% of the population of Września County. The municipality covers an area of 96.24 km², dominated by agricultural land (64%) and forests (31%). Notable historical monuments include a post mill from 1751 in Kokoszki, a palace complex from the second half of the 19th century in Mystki, and the wooden Church of St. Catherine of Alexandria from 1752–54 in Opatówek. Targowa Górka, in turn, features numerous historical sites, including an 18th-century belfry. The municipality has a distinctive demographic structure, as evidenced by data on the age pyramid of its residents. Interestingly, between 1975 and 1998, the municipality was part of the Poznań Voivodeship, and it currently borders the municipalities of Czerniejewo, Dominowo, Kostrzyn, Pobiedziska, and Września. The region's architecture, predominantly featuring buildings from the 16th to the 20th century, reflects historical changes and local traditions, creating an intriguing cultural mosaic.
