Września County, located in the Greater Poland Voivodeship, was re-established in 1999 as a result of the administrative reform, with the town of Września serving as its seat. According to data from the end of 2021, the county had a population of 77,839. It consists of the urban-rural municipalities of Miłosław, Nekla, Pyzdry, and Września, as well as the rural municipality of Kołaczkowo. Historically, Września County dates back to 1818, when it was established by the Prussians and existed until 1975, undergoing numerous territorial and administrative changes over the decades. During the interwar period of the Second Polish Republic, the county experienced dynamic development and was led by its first Polish starost, Franciszek Czapski. After World War II, under the structures of the Polish People's Republic, the county underwent significant organizational changes, and in 1975, its borders were altered as a result of the administrative reform. Architecturally, the region is rich in historical monuments, including 99 heritage sites, with 44 located in Września and 19 in Miłosław. The county also boasts a vibrant cultural scene, with museums such as the Regional Museum in Pyzdry and the Regional Museum of the Września Children in Września. Additionally, the county has engaged in international cooperation, establishing partnerships with Germany and Belarus. An interesting fact is that in 2000, Nekla regained its town rights, which had been lost in 1793. Demographically, in 2019, the county recorded a low unemployment rate of 3.1%. Września County also borders several other counties, such as Pleszew, Jarocin, and Gniezno, which contributes to its regional development.
