wikipedia
Lake Niesłysz, located in the Lubusz Voivodeship, is the largest lake of the Łagów Lakeland. It is characterized by a well-developed shoreline, numerous bays, and three islands. Its history dates back to 1470, and its original names have evolved over the centuries. In 1950, it was given its current name. The lake's surface area ranges from 486.2 to 526 hectares, with a maximum depth of 34.7 meters. It is eutrophic, which affects its biodiversity. Vegetation covers up to 90% of the shoreline, with its types varying depending on the location. The lake is home to numerous species of fish and birds, including large populations of coots and geese. Niesłysz is an important tourist destination, with holiday resorts and sailing marinas. It attracts around 180,000 tourists annually. The lake has a "quiet zone" status and is protected as part of the landscape conservation area. In the surrounding area, there is a medieval settlement site and remnants of the oldest bridge in Poland from the 9th century. During the Third Reich, the lake played a strategic role as part of a line of fortifications. Despite ecological threats such as cyanobacterial blooms, the water quality remains at a level that supports recreation and biological protection. An interesting fact is its versatility in recreational activities, including diving, sailing, and the organization of regattas and camps.
