Obrzycko is a rural municipality located in the Greater Poland Voivodeship, within the Szamotuły County, with its administrative seat in the town of Obrzycko, which itself forms a separate urban municipality. The establishment of this urban municipality in 1990 is considered a procedural error that has not been corrected to this day. The municipality covers an area of approximately 110.84 km², which constitutes 9.90% of the county's total area. According to demographic data, in 2013, the municipality had a population of 4,430. Within its territory lies the Jaryszewo landing strip. The municipality has a diverse land structure, with agricultural land occupying 47% of the area, while forested areas account for 48%. Between 1975 and 1998, the municipality belonged to the Poznań Voivodeship. Obrzycko borders several municipalities, including Lubasz, Oborniki, Ostroróg, Połajewo, Szamotuły, and Wronki. The region offers various tourist trails, both for hiking and cycling. Hiking trails, such as the one leading from Sieraków to Słopanowo, have a total length of 102.6 km and are part of the European Long-Distance Path E-11. Meanwhile, cycling routes, such as the Nadwarciański Cycling Trail and the Transwielkopolska Cycling Route, offer both shorter and longer trails, promoting cycling tourism in the region. In 2013, the municipality's budget amounted to 11.74 million PLN, with public administration expenditures reaching 2.17 million PLN. Obrzycko Municipality, with its natural wealth and tourist infrastructure, presents an interesting area in terms of architecture, culture, and history, encouraging exploration of its unique qualities.
