wikipedia
The Parish of the Holy Apostles Peter and Paul in Kamienna Góra, the oldest in the city, was established on January 2, 1301, and belongs to the Kamienna Góra East deanery in the Diocese of Legnica. The parish church, as the center of religious life, survived the events of World War II, and its history and architecture combine various styles and influences. This sacred building has gone through different periods, including a transition to Protestantism in the 16th century. Valuable cultural elements include the 16th-century triptych of Saint Anne and the statue of Saint John of Nepomuk, which stood by the church for many years. The parish, with its municipal cemetery and the cemetery church of Corpus Christi from 1560, is an important place for the local community, where Masses are held for the deceased from all over Kamienna Góra. Since the liberation of Kamienna Góra by the Red Army in 1945, there was a rapid influx of Polish population, linked to settlement initiatives in the Western Territories. The first Polish pastor was Fr. Bronisław Gawryś, who faced financial and organizational difficulties in his pastoral work. Despite the shortage of priests, the parish grew, and the number of faithful in 1959 reached 17,000. In 1969, new polychrome decorations were introduced in the church, and canonical visitations, particularly in 1979 and 2006, contributed to the further spiritual development of the community. An interesting fact is that Fr. Second Lieutenant Bolesław Robaczek was the first Polish priest from Kamienna Góra after World War II. The parish also has strong community traditions, including 11 Rosary groups and a male choir. Now, with three parish buildings and a dynamic community, the parish remains a vital spiritual center in the region.
