Kamienna Góra East Deanery

The Kamienna Góra - East Deanery in the Roman Catholic Diocese of Legnica consists of seven parishes: St. Augustine in Ciechanowice, the Sacred Heart of Jesus in Czarny Bór, the Holy Family in Gostków, the Holy Apostles Peter and Paul in Kamienna Góra, the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary in Krzeszów, the Immaculate Heart of the Blessed Virgin Mary in Marciszów, and the Annunciation of the Blessed Virgin Mary in Witków. Following the Second Vatican Council, the need for an administrative division of the Church was recognized, leading to the establishment of two Kamienna Góra deaneries in 1988 for better management of the religious community. Before the division, the Kamienna Góra deanery was home to 50,000 faithful, which justified the need for reorganization. The church architecture of these parishes often reflects local historical styles, with Gothic, Baroque, and Neo-Gothic elements visible in the churches and their surroundings. In Krzeszów, there is the renowned Sanctuary of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary with its Baroque interior, which attracts many pilgrims. Interestingly, the deanery is located in an area rich in cultural and historical traditions, reflected in local folklore, types of craftsmanship, and numerous religious and social festivals. An important figure in the history of the deanery was the Archbishop of Wrocław, who recognized the pastoral needs of the local community, contributing to the creation of new administrative structures in the Church. Kochanów, being an exception, belongs to the Głuszyca Deanery, highlighting the diversity and complexity of administrative divisions in the region. Each parish promotes not only religious activities but also social ones, organizing local events and activities that bring residents together and strengthen community bonds.
