wikipedia
Piotrków Trybunalski, located in central Poland, is a city with a rich history dating back to the 13th century, when it was first mentioned. In the 14th century, it gained importance as a center for knightly gatherings and courts. The pinnacle of its role in Polish history was the establishment of the Crown Tribunal in 1578, which led to the addition of "Trybunalski" to its name. The city boasts numerous historical monuments, including the Old Town with its fascinating medieval and classical architecture, remnants of 14th-century city walls, a 16th-century royal castle, and numerous churches such as the Basilica of St. James and the Jesuit church. Piotrków is also a place of significant importance to the Jewish community, which flourished here from the 16th century onward. During World War II, the first ghetto in occupied Poland was established here. Culturally, the city stands out with its recurring events, such as the International Festival of Action Art and the "Trybunały Kabaretowe" Comedy Festival. Today, Piotrków Trybunalski serves as an important industrial and logistics hub, with developed textile, mechanical, and glass industries.
