Sękowa

The Sękowa Commune, located in the Lesser Poland Voivodeship within Gorlice County, borders the communes of Dębowiec, Gorlice, Krempna, Lipinki, and Uście Gorlickie, as well as Slovakia. The commune's administrative seat is in the village of Sękowa, which had a population of 4,743 inhabitants in 2004. Between 1975 and 1998, the commune was part of the Nowy Sącz Voivodeship. The commune covers an area of 194.75 km², of which 29% is agricultural land and 68% is forest land, highlighting the natural and ecological character of the region. Sękowa Commune constitutes 20.13% of the total area of Gorlice County. Within the commune, visitors can find diverse architectural structures, often testaments to local cultural heritage, including wooden churches characteristic of the Subcarpathian region. The commune is also known for its rich folk culture, including traditional crafts and local festivals that attract folklore enthusiasts.
