Skwierzyna is an urban-rural municipality located in the Lubuskie Voivodeship, within the Międzyrzecz County, with its administrative seat in the town of Skwierzyna. The history of the municipality dates back many years, and between 1975 and 1998, it was part of the Gorzów Voivodeship. According to data from June 30, 2004, the municipality was inhabited by 12,769 residents. The area of the municipality covers 285.44 km², of which 24% is agricultural land and as much as 68% is forest land, making it one of the greenest regions in Poland. The Skwierzyna municipality is also home to the Bagno Leszczyny Nature Reserve, which protects peat bogs and their unique vegetation. The region also includes numerous sołectwas (village administrative divisions) such as Dobrojewo, Gościnowo, Krobielewko, and Trzebiszewo, as well as rural localities including Czerwieniec and Rakowo. Neighboring municipalities include Bledzew, Deszczno, and Drezdenko, fostering local cooperation and cultural exchange.
