wikipedia
The Church of St. Michael the Archangel in Świątkowa Mała, built in 1762, is a wooden log structure that originally served as a Greek Catholic church and now functions as a Roman Catholic church. It was listed as a historic monument in 1965 and included in the Subcarpathian Wooden Architecture Trail. The history of the church dates back to 1581, when it existed as an auxiliary temple of the Orthodox parish in Grabie. After the Union of Brest, it came under the care of the Greek Catholic Church. In the 19th century, the church underwent significant changes, including the addition of a tower and modifications to the roof in the women's section. In 1927, the residents of Świątkowa Mała converted to Orthodoxy, but the church was closed in 1931 and fell into disrepair in the 1950s. After being repurposed as a Roman Catholic church, some of the salvaged furnishings from the church in Rozstajne were moved there. In the 1970s, the temple was robbed multiple times, and the iconostasis was never fully restored. In recent years, the church has undergone several renovations, including a major overhaul in 2010. Architecturally, the church is tripartite, with richly decorated roofs, a preserved iconostasis from 1670, and beautiful historical icons, such as a depiction of the Last Judgment from 1653. Also noteworthy is the partial destruction of the iconostasis by thieves and the transformation of the temple into a place of worship for religious minorities in the region. This is an incredibly valuable cultural heritage site that reflects the rich history and tradition of the region, as well as the religious changes that have taken place over the centuries.
