wikipedia
Strzelin County, established in 1999 with its seat in the town of Strzelin, is located in the Lower Silesian Voivodeship and borders the counties of Oława, Wrocław, Dzierżoniów, Ząbkowice, Nysa, and Brzeg. The county consists of urban-rural municipalities (Strzelin, Wiązów) and rural municipalities (Borów, Kondratowice, Przeworno), and encompasses two mesoregions: the Wrocław Plain and the Niemcza-Strzelin Hills. The area is characterized by a rich natural heritage, with 46 natural monuments, including many protected trees, and Natura 2000 sites, highlighting the ecological significance of the region. The Strzelin Hills Landscape and Nature Complex is also located within the county. Transportation in the region is well-developed, thanks to the A4 motorway, national roads, and voivodeship roads. The county has local media that cover the cultural and social life of its residents. Over the past few years, Strzelin County has been managed by eleven starosts, including Zbigniew Woroniecki, Aleksander Bek, and Norbert Raba, demonstrating the political dynamics of the region. Demographically, in 2019, the population was 43,570, and by 2020 it had decreased to 43,456, which may indicate some migration or a decline in births. Strzelin County is also active in environmental protection, with plans to preserve natural areas and assign protection to various species of flora and fauna. The natural resources, economically utilized through various forms of economic activity, are also noteworthy, but the county struggles with unemployment, which stood at 9.4% at the end of 2019. The region combines historical and architectural heritage with natural attractiveness, making it an interesting guide to the traditions and culture of Lower Silesia. Unique settlement attractions are accompanied by diverse cultural events organized by local institutions, enriching the lives of its residents. An interesting fact is that before January 1, 1999, a significant part of the county's area belonged to the Wrocław Voivodeship, reflecting historical administrative changes in Poland. Today, the combination of nature, culture, and history makes Strzelin County an interesting place both to live in and to visit.
