Sulęcin Commune, originally known as Cielęcin Commune, is an urban-rural municipality located in the Lubusz Voivodeship, within Sulęcin County. Between 1975 and 1998, it was part of the Gorzów Voivodeship, and its administrative seat is the town of Sulęcin. The commune covers an area of 319.72 km², of which 27% is agricultural land and 55% is forested, reflecting its rich natural environment. In 2004, the commune was home to 16,288 people, with a diverse demographic structure. It includes villages such as Brzeźno, Długoszyn, Drogomin, and Miechów, as well as several settlements without formal village status, including Wędrzyn and Pamiątkowice. An important element of nature conservation in the region is the Buczyna Łagowska Nature Reserve, which protects a fragment of natural beech forest. Sulęcin Commune has a rich history connected to the region and is surrounded by other municipalities, fostering local cooperation and tourism development. Interestingly, Sulęcin constitutes 27.15% of the total area of Sulęcin County, making it a significant part of the region.
