Torzym is an urban-rural municipality located in the Lubuskie Voivodeship, within the Sulęcin County, with its administrative seat in the town of Torzym. Between 1975 and 1998, the municipality belonged to the Zielona Góra Voivodeship. It consists of 21 village administrative districts (sołectwa) as well as several settlements and colonies, covering a total area of 374.87 km². The area is predominantly characterized by individual, scattered housing spread over a large area, resulting in low population density. Most villages follow an oval layout, with settlements clustered around a distinct central square. The municipality is rich in natural assets, as evidenced by the nature reserves Dolina Ilanki and Dolina Ilanki II, which protect peat bogs and diverse ecosystems. Demographically, in 2004, the municipality was home to 6,798 people, with only two villages—Boczów and Gądków Wielki—having more than 500 residents each. Torzym borders several municipalities, including Bytnica, Cybinka, and Rzepin. An interesting fact is that the municipality covers 31.84% of the area of Sulęcin County, with forested land making up as much as 62% of its territory. Torzym Municipality is not only distinguished by its unique spatial layout but also by its rich natural heritage, making it an interesting place to live and visit.
