wikipedia
War Cemetery No. 6 in Krempna is a World War I memorial site designed by Dušan Jurkovič. It is located in the Krempna municipality, within Jasło County, and is one of over 400 war cemeteries in Western Galicia built by Austro-Hungarian military authorities. It belongs to the Nowy Żmigród I Cemetery District, underscoring its significance in the context of wartime events in the region. Architecturally, the cemetery is distinguished by a central monument resting on six stone pillars that support a concrete wreath. This wreath, restored thanks to volunteers from various countries, is adorned with copper oak leaves donated by Polish and Austrian soldiers serving in the UN peacekeeping forces on the Golan Heights—an interesting example of international cooperation in commemorating war victims. Inscriptions mounted on the pillars serve as a reminder of the enduring memory of the fallen and their struggle during difficult times. The cemetery is the final resting place of 53 Austro-Hungarian soldiers, 33 Russian soldiers, and 34 unknown soldiers. Most of them died from wounds sustained during the battles to maintain positions along the Wisłoka River in the winter of 1914 and passed away in a field hospital located nearby. As part of the Eastern Front Trail of World War I, the cemetery highlights its historical and cultural importance in the Podkarpackie region. It not only honors the victims of war but also reflects values of friendship and remembrance that have endured through years of differences and conflicts.
