Zbiczno Commune, located in the Kuyavian-Pomeranian Voivodeship within Brodnica County, is a picturesque area with an administrative history dating back to the past, having previously been part of the Toruń Voivodeship from 1975 to 1998. The seat of the commune is the town of Zbiczno. In 2014, the commune had a population of 4,846, and by 2017, this number had increased to 4,849. The commune covers an area of 132.9 km², with its land evenly divided between agricultural and forest uses, making it an attractive region both from an agricultural and nature conservation perspective. Zbiczno Commune is home to numerous nature reserves, including seven that protect unique plant habitats and fauna species, such as the Drwęca River Reserve, established to safeguard salmonid fish. Among its historical monuments are historic churches and manor houses, like the 14th-century church in Żmijewo and the 19th-century manor complex in Tomki. These sites not only reflect the region's rich history but also its architectural value. The commune also features an interesting structure of village administrative units (sołectwa), including Brzezinki, Lipowiec, and Najmowo, as well as smaller settlements that complement the local landscape. Zbiczno borders several other communes, fostering cooperation and cultural exchange.
