Ćmielów

Ćmielów is an urban-rural commune located in the Świętokrzyskie Voivodeship, in the Opatów County, with its capital in Ćmielów itself. The history of the commune dates back to ancient times, and its original name was Krzczonowice until 1870. Between 1975 and 1998, the commune belonged to the Tarnobrzeg Voivodeship. According to data from June 30, 2004, the commune was inhabited by 7,942 residents. The area of the commune is 117.7 km², of which 63% is agricultural land and 31% is forest land. The commune occupies 19.1% of the total area of Opatów County. The demographic structure of the commune, presented in a population pyramid, reveals clear changes over the years.
